Introducing the Chardi Kalaa Computer Club
Waaheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waaheguru Ji ki fateh! The Chardi Kalaa Community Center now has an exciting new program for young Sikhs and
their families, the Chardi Kalaa Computer Club! The Computer club has a well equipped computer laboratory consisting of eight (as of
now) Pentium multimedia PCs connected over an Ethernet local area network. Two of these
are powerful configurations with 21 inch monitors, 150 Mhz CPUs, 32 Mbytes of RAM and
2Gbytes of Disk storage. We also have a full complement of peripheral equipment including
color and laser printers, scanner, CDROM writer as well as Zip drives on all the PCs. We
are also setting up a high speed Internet link using a frame relay connection. The
hardware for the computer lab has been supported by a grant from the Sikh Foundation. We
are grateful to Dr. Narinder Kapany for his generous support. The objectives of the Chardi Kalaa Computer Club are to:
The specific programs and projects will be determined based on the participants and their interests and skill levels. The club is specially oriented towards young Sikhs between the ages of 10 and 25, but all members of the Saadh Sangat of all ages are welcome. For children under ten, we ask that a parent always accompany and take responsibility for the child and serve as personal coach. Adults who can offer their knowledge and skills are specially requested to contribute some of their valuable time to this important seva.
